Twesigye Patience is a 21-year-old married mother of one from Butende Parish, Kitayunjwa Sub-county, Kamuli District. Mr. Balande, the chairman of the Parish Development Committee in Butende, sensitised youth about A Working Future project at St Mary's Church Budongo, after which they formed a youth group of 30 members. Patience received free demonstration seed and planted a quarter-acre garden of green chili. From her chili sales, she earned UGX 400,000, which she reinvested in goat rearing and eggplant production. She is grateful to the AWF project because it exposed her to improved farming methods, including the use of pesticides, insect traps, and fertiliser application. The project also gave her opportunities to interact with officials from VEDCO and Plan International during field visits, which boosted her morale in farming. At household level, the family's financial status has improved since they started selling chili to KK, reducing domestic tension caused by lack of home essentials.
