Mulinda Ronald is a member of Twekolere Youth Development Group in Kimbaya Zone, Gumpi Parish, Bugaya Sub-county. On Tuesday, 19 May 2020, he earned UGX 35,000 from the sale of 35 kg of chili. Immediately after receiving the money from the trader, Mulinda went to the market the following day and purchased a 100 kg sack of dried sweet potato chips to feed his family for the next two weeks. He says the income saved his wife and children from spending days and nights without food. The same chili marketing work also supported other youth farmers in the area, including Namulemo Lazia of Agaliawamo Youth Farmers Group in Gumpi Parish, who sold 250 kg of chili on 6 June 2020 and earned UGX 250,000. That income enabled her to buy a cow for her children, a long-held family dream that would help ensure they no longer spent months without milk.
