Kikobye Sarah is a resident of Bumwena Village, Buganza Parish, Kitayunjwa Sub-county in Kamuli District. She learned about the MENU project in 2018 during awareness drives promoting biofortified iron beans and orange-fleshed sweet potato. Sarah became interested in the project and started as a vulnerable farmer. In 2019, she graduated to become a commercial farmer. She bought 30 kg of iron beans and planted them on 1.5 acres through an agreement with Naminage School to supply iron beans in exchange for school fees for her two children. Sarah harvested 367 kg valued at UGX 660,600 and exchanged the produce for school fees. She thanks HarvestPlus through VEDCO for supporting the education of her children.
