Bakusekamajja Farmers Group is a youth group from Kasolwe Parish, Kadolwe Zone in Kagumba Sub-county. The group started in 2019 with 30 members, including 12 males and 18 females, as a savings group. After receiving sensitisation from the project officer of Kagumba Sub-county, the group embraced A Working Future project. In April 2020, under the leadership of Nakisuyi Racheal, members used their savings to purchase seed for one acre at a cost of UGX 150,000 and began chili farming as a business. From their first harvest between September and October, they sold 445 kg and earned UGX 650,000. They topped up UGX 500,000 from their savings and bought two oxen as a group, which they hire out at UGX 100,000 to plough an acre. In December, the group sold 295 kg to KK Fresh Foods and earned UGX 442,500. They used the money to buy a hoe for each youth in the group and shared UGX 10,000 for Christmas. The group has now expanded its garden to two acres, and each member has an individual garden of half an acre.
