VEDCO Trains Staff on HIV and AIDS Mainstreaming Dec/2/2011

AIDS is one of the most serious, deadly diseases in human history. The epidemic has claimed lives of many loved ones including men, women, the old and the infant and leaving thousands in immense suffering which calls for massive efforts to combat the epidemic disease.
 It is against this background that with the help of Concern Worldwide and ACODE-Uganda, VEDCO organized an HIV and AIDS mainstreaming training for her staff members.
The training which took place at Multipurpose Hotel in Moyo district from 22nd-24th November 28, 2011 was directed to equip VEDCO staff with the knowledge on AIDS mainstreaming in livelihoods programs, equip the staff with skills in facilitating external HIV and AIDS analysis and planning with farmer trainers and beneficiary communities called by the rising number of people infected with HIV and AIDS.
 “There is a vast need to integrate HIV and AIDS activities alongside the organizational core business, build internal capacity within the organization and supporting all elements of society in  organizational program areas to recognize the reality of HIV and AIDS and how it affects individuals,” said Bagaya Sulieman  the HIV and AIDS Coordinator-Concern Worldwide while facilitating the training. He called on the program supervisors, managers among others at the internal and external level of the organization to cater for the problems of people living with AIDS and respect the formulated policies that must be enjoyed with the infected persons.
The training was merged with HIV and AIDS testing among the staff, VEDCO supported farmers among other people of Metu Sub County Moyo district.
